Well, well, well... Just when you thought you have heard everything, leave it to Hollywood to shock and amaze you. Screech (the lovable dork from Saved By The Bell) is losing his house and he needs our help! No I am not making this up. The picture that you see is straight from his website www.getdshirts.com.
Ok, here's the deal. When Saved By The Bell ended, Dustin Diamond (you know, Screech) decided to leave California and move to Wisconsin. But, since he had "s*itty" credit (his words not mine) he could not afford a house so he got a land contract. What is a land contract? I did not know myself, but with a simple google search, I found my answer.
Basically, if you don't have good credit, or in Dustin Diamonds' case (you know, Screech), s*itty credit, you can obtain a land contract. Here's how it works. In most cases, no grant deed is recorded. If you get a land contract, you pay the person who owns the land whatever is agreed upon, and they in turn pay the mortgage. If I understand it correctly, it's almost like renting. You are paying some else's mortgage, hence you do not own the property.
Anywhoo, Dustin Diamond (you know, Screech) states on his website: "During the past years the land around me has developed for the better and my property value went way up. Now that the house is worth a lot more they want it back. Knowing my credit is bad, getting a straight mortgage would take some time. I received a letter stating that I had 30 days to pay $250,000.00 or get out. I was not thrilled."
Long story short, he was referred to some guy (named Arthur Giraldo) who can get anyone a loan no matter what. Let me pause here. There is a reason people are turned down for loans, THEY CAN'T AFFORD IT. So if you have to go to someone who is known to get anyone a loan no matter what, maybe you should just stay home with mom and dad, work hard and save, until you can actually afford what it is you want.
Well, as you can probably guess, Arthur didn't come through. Now I wasn't there when all this took place, but Screech (you know, Dustin Diamond) says Mr. Giraldo is a horrible business man who never returned any calls and kept promising that everything was ok and that he would not lose his house.
This is where you and I come in. Here is what Dustin Diamond wants (you know, Screech).
1. I want Arthur to lose his cushy job at NYCE where he screws over the working man then laughs at their expense.
2. I ask you to join my fight against injustice by helping to save my house.I've designed a T-shirt for all of you to wear to show your support. All monies go towards Saving My House!
1. A $15.00 donation will get you a comfortable and stylish cotton T-Shirt telling the world you helped save my house.
2. A $20.00 donation will get you that same T-Shirt signed by me with my special message "F*** Giraldo".
He sums everything up this way, "Please rally behind me and together we can end the feeble handling of peoples futures by Arthur Giraldo and at the same time SAVE MY HOUSE!"
Let's start with the first point. Screech, you say you want Arthur to lose his cushy job where he screws the working man. Well, why did you ever do business with him? Why didn't you research him before you went with him? Because of your lack of common sense, I'm supposed to come to your aide and bail you out? Furthermore, why don't you go after the "friend" who recommended Mr. Giraldo? Some friend.
Second, you want me to help fight against injustice by helping you save your house? WHAT INJUSTICE? Sounds like to me you have no clue how to manage your own money. How in the world can you have such horrible credit after leaving a HUGE show like Saved By The Bell? And second of all, why would I care if you're loosing your house? You're Screech from frickin' Saved By The Bell. You should have mountains of money shooting out from between your cheeks. And yes, I'm talking about the cheeks you sit on.
That is not injustice. Injustice is a lender turning down a single mother who is working two jobs so she can provide for her kids, just because they don't like the way she dresses. Injustice is our court systems allowing child molesters to go free. Injustice is a mentally handicapped girl being raped at a school, and then the school system not coming to her defense because, they say, she enjoyed it. Injustice, sir, is imminent domain where our wonderful Supreme Court said our government can take your home to build a highway. That is injustice. Injustice is NOT your inability to control your finances.
Mr. Diamond (you know, Screech) is trying to make it as a stand up comic. Wouldn't common sense tell you that if being a standup comic is not paying the bills, maybe you should look for another job? Now, I'm not saying give up your dream. If your dream is to be a standup comic, do that on the side while working a job that pays, hone your skills, and be the best damn standup comic you can be!
Now I must say this in Mr. Diamonds defense. At least you're getting something for contributing to his cause. Selling a product to make money. That is the American way and I say that without sarcasm. I sell bathroom remodels to pay my bills, Screech sales t-shirts. Only I am in business to make money, not to support the starving pygmy's in Africa. Stop hiding behind the PC cliche of "I'm the victim. Help me fight this injustice." Show it as it is. A tool to make money.
This brings me to my final point. (I can here you breathe a sigh of relief.) Whatever happened to the American way? What would our grandparents do? They would have pulled themselves up by their bootstraps, worked HARDER, and recaptured the American Dream all over again. Imagine where America would be if, instead of hard work, they blamed and sued everyone during the Great Depression.
So don't tell me it can't be done. I moved from Georgia to South Carolina when I was 21 without borrowing a single penny from anyone, got a job, got an apartment (with roommates), got a different job and another apartment, got married bought a house, paid off all debt, sold that house, and now my wife and I are building our dream house. All with no debt, no college degree, and no hit TV show.
PS-Our dream house is $253,000. Wanna buy a shirt?
